Proudly based in the historical location of the Sandalwood Yards complex on Ford Street in York. Our group are passionate and dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of York. Our enthusiastic volunteers can assist you with your research and family history questions at our research and archives centre.

Fees & Charges $20/hour for each family history research request. $40 per house history request. Our rates books reach back to 1893. A new membership to the York Society will include an hour of research (family or house). Quotes can be prepared where extensive research is required. 20c per A4 photocopy and 50c per A3 photocopy charge. All monies collected go towards the purchase of research materials pertaining to the York area. Our resources for research include: * extensive references relating to families and the social and cultural history of the York district * Births, Deaths and Marriages * Cemetery Records for the York area * Historical Maps and Plans of York and Districts * Historical Newspapers from the late 1870s to the present. *copies of York Shire and Roads board ratebooks. Don't forget to visit the York Residency Museum in Brook Street near to the old York Hospital while you are pursuing your research. |
