The York Society Research & Archival Centre
The centre for local history research in York. Our facility, opened in 2013, contains a wealth of material for family and local history research.
Located in Ford Street within the York Society's Sandalwood Yards complex at the corner of Avon Terrace. Parking is available. We are currently open on Tuesdays between 10am and 3pm or by appointment. Come and meet our team of enthusiastic volunteers who can help you with your research and family history questions.

Fees & Charges
$20 per research request. Quotes can be prepared where extensive research is required.
20c per A4 photocopy and 50c per A3 photocopy charge.
All monies collected go towards the purchase of research materials pertaining to the York area.
Our resources for research include:
* An extensive range of Reference Books relating to families and the social and cultural history of the York district
* Births, Deaths and Marriages
* Cemetery Records for the York area
* Historical Maps and Plans of York and Districts
* Historical Newspapers from the late 1870s to the present, hardcopy and film. : Eastern Districts Chronicle, The York Chronicle etc.
*copies of York Shire and Roads board ratebooks.
Don't forget to visit the York Residency Museum in Broome Street near to the old York Hospital while you are pursuing your research. (The Residency Museum is currently closed for renovations).
